I heard about you on NPR today. What you are doing is so over the top!! It is just possible that you can pull this off. I wish you all the best. Post a specific list of things you need and keep it current. Every single basement in the state probably has one or two little things you need!! Bravo!!

Mr. Sedakis- To address your concerns: 1. There are a number of people who would donate money to us despite our alleged lack of official paperwork. In fact, several dozen people have already contributed nearly $1700 to us, as you can see on our "Bank Statement" page. Originally, the organization was conceived with the intent that it would not be an official organization, but rather we would have a bank account that people could donate to, and we would keep track of all credits and debits on our site. We have since taken the direction of becoming a government-recognized 501 c (3) non-profit organization and are currently in the process of completing the necessary paperwork to do so. 2. Your allegation that we do not have any legal paperwork in Michigan is inaccurate and libelous. On April 30th, 2009 I received a letter from the Michigan Department of Attorney General notifying me of the need to register the organization in compliance with the Charitable Organizations and Solicitations Act, 1975PA 169, MCL 400.271 et seq. (COSA) and the Supervision of Trustees for Charitable Purposes Act, 1961 PA 101, MCL 14.251 et seq. (STCPA). I filled out the INITIAL SOLICITATION APPLICATION / REGISTRATION form and mailed it in within the required 30-day time frame. Either the person you spoke to was unaware of this or you are outright lying. 3. I will save you the time, effort, and money involved in determining the ownership of the houses by telling you that I am the owner of the houses and the titles are in my name. You have obviously spent a lot of time and expelled a lot of effort in order to discredit our organization. We are just two people who had an idea and decided to act on it. I have to wonder why you feel it is necessary to insinuate that we are somehow trying to defraud the public. If you have any questions or anything else you wish to address, please send an e-mail to the address listed at the bottom of this page.

Why would people donate to you if you are not a registered charity and have no legal paperwork in Michigan? I contacted the michigan attorney general charitable giving department and they have no record of you or any Habitat for Hamtramck corporation. Whos name are the titles of the house sin? Should I go down to public records and find out?

Looking forward to following this venture as it unfolds. Great idea! Post some videos of the houses, maybe a walk through, before you start the work, and then as the work progresses. I think that would be interesting.

Hello guys. Its great to see someone finally taking notice and doing something positive to help revive the city. I am a student here and was on my way out upon graduation until I discovered how much was happening right in my back yard. I plan on continuing what you guys at Habitat for Hamtramck, and PowerHouse Project are doing. Though I will be working in primarily retail business (I'm a fashion major trying to get my shop opened in midtown), I hope to achieve the same impact that you guys have here. Good Luck. I would love to help in any way, from painting, to putting up dry wall, to helping you guys get press (I have many media contacts). Just let me know how I can be of assistance. I can help you guys get volunteers, more press, and funding (well I can try very hard anyway lol). Just let me know what you guys need. Again Good Luck!! Tiara

As a professor I knew Ian over a period of two years. He is one of the brightest, most insightful, and most decent people I have known.

Congratulations on this wonderful undertaking. A source of volunteers and donations you should look at is retiree's. There are many retired Builders and Developers in the greater Detroit area who would love to lend a hand in renovating some of these homes. Also go directly to Home Builders around Detroit like Pultie Homes for donations and volunteers. What a great project.
